LIMPOPO Premier Cassel Mathale yesterday announced the appointment of Benny Boshielo as the new head of the province's department of education with effect from Friday.
Boshielo, pictured, was the chief executive of Limpopo Tourism and Parks.
He replaces Zwo Nevhutalu, whose contract ends tomorrow.
Boshielo was a member of the Limpopo provinciallegislature and also served as a commissioner for traditional affairs.
He was appointed MEC for the department of roads and transport in 1998.
"We believe Boshielo's wealth of experience, strategic leadership and expertise in government work is unparalleled," Mathale said.
He said they were confident Boshielo would continue to make a contribution to education transformation.
Boshielo was also, until the provincial ANC conference that took place at the University of Venda last year, the official spokesperson for the organisation.
Sowetan understands that Boshielo's position will be taken over by former treasury head Rob Tooley.
