It beggars belief that our judiciary have let this potential child molester on the loose - again.
Khumalo allegedly raped two girls, aged six and five, in December 2007.
Against the wishes of the police, a magistrate at the Thembisa magistrate's court granted him bail because social workers claimed the girls were not fit to give evidence. They are kids for heaven's sake!
What a travesty of justice. It is tragic and shocking when social workers - who are supposed to have special insight into the helplessness a rape victim feels- don't know that it is never easy for rape victims to talk about their ordeal.
In September Khumalo reportedly brutalised two other girls - aged three and six.
But a few days after his arrest Khumalo was roaming the streets of Thembisa again.
This time another magistrate had released him, also despite vehement protestations from the investigating officers.
We would have thought the Child Protection Act would shield our little ones from any whiff of danger.
If so we think the judicial officers who do not consider Khumalo a danger to society must review their decision.
It is not enough for the Department of Justice's Tlali Tlali to say they are reviewing the laws.
Yes, we pronounce Khumalo guilty. Otherwise he would not have skipped bail.
