Botlokwa fires up Cup spirit

A SOCCER tournament will be launched in Botlokwa, Limpopo, today to help create awareness of the 2010 Fifa World Cup in the area.

A SOCCER tournament will be launched in Botlokwa, Limpopo, today to help create awareness of the 2010 Fifa World Cup in the area.

Lebogang Seshoka, the organiser, said the tournament would feature 16 teams.

To be known as the Ntipene Festive Soccer Tournament, it will start today at Marematlou Sports Ground in Dipateng village. The final match will be played on December 28.

The teams have been divided into two groups of eight each. The winners will take home R7000 and the runners-up R5000.

The teams in Group A are Matseke Leopards, Ratsaka Cosmos, Ramatjowe Fast X1, Makgato Happy Lions, Dikgading Young Killers, Masupatsela, Nyakelang Aces and Phasha Home Sweepers.

The Group B teams are Mphakane Naughty Boys, Sekakene Real Tigers, Vuka Hungry Tigers, Mangata Blue Ways, Mamolamodi Swallows, Marematlou FC, Sekonye Mighty Blues and Polatla City Wonders.

"The 2010 Fifa World Cup is coming to Limpopo in Polokwane, so we will use this tournament to educate our people to go out and buy tickets," Seshoka said.

Botlokwa has produced top names such as Jacob "Dukes" Machaka, Johannes "Fire" Phefadu, Thabo Mongalo, Edward "Mochene" Ramonwana, Isaiah "Junior" Ramusi, Willie Makgato, Sour Malehopo and Moloko "Double" Matlhope.
