DUBLIN District School from Ireland will take part in the second annual Gauteng Under-17 International Future Champions in Soweto from January 25 to 30.
This school produced superstars like Ireland's senior national team captain and striker Robbie Keane, midfielders Andrews and Glen Whelan and striker Richard Dunne.
Dublin's participation was confirmed by Gauteng MEC for sport, arts, culture and recreation Nelisiwe Mbatha-Mtimkulu, who described the tournament as a great platform to promote Gauteng ahead of the 2010 Fifa World Cup.
Safa Soweto chief executive officer Phil "Chippa" Mogodi said they have decided that all tournaments in Soweto would form part of the campaign to promote the World Cup.
SuperSport United, Tottenham Hotspur Academy, Kaizer Chiefs, Safa Tshwane and Safa Johannesburg regional sides will represent Gauteng.
A total of 12 teams will participate. Other teams will come from Brazil, US, China, India, Tunisia and France, Boca Junior (Argentina), Paris Saint-Germain (France), India Academy (India) and Shandong Luneng (China).
