Trio up for hijacking

THREE men were arrested yesterday after a hijacking in Norkem Park, northeast of Johannesburg, police said.

The three were part of a gang of seven men who allegedly hijacked a Nissan X-trail bakkie in Norkem Park yesterday, Captain Lesibana Molokomme said.

The car was spotted in Tembisa, where the police arrested the trio and confiscated one firearm. The men led them to another house where the car used in the hijacking was found. The car had been stolen in the area in October.

The four other robbers, said to be driving a white Toyota bakkie, are still at large.

The arrested men face charges of hijacking when they appear in the Kempton Park magistrate's court today. - Sapa
