Just Because has just had its season at the Market Theatre in Newtown, and it left several people laughing and helping someone to survive in the process. This is the reason for holding this charity event every year. The festival comes at a time when we must all give to those who have nothing.

I know times are tough. I know there is recession. I know companies are not as generous as in previous years . I know a lot of people are not getting bonuses this year . But still, giving is good and it makes one feel good to share. It is a noble action.

The Just Because comedy festival has become an annual feature on the local comedy calendar.

Now in its third year, this initiative brings South Africa's comedians together in performance for a charitable cause.

The primary goal of this endeavour is to bring down the curtain on the local comedy calendar year with an event that raises money for the less privileged in society over the festive season.

This is the festival that allows them to give back to the community that supports them.

It features live stand-up acts involving a kaleidoscope of comedians.

Those who have been performing as the regular acts every night at this year's event are the collective of Eugene Khoza as MC, Loyiso Gola, Trevor Noah, David Kibuuka and Kagiso Lediga.

This is in addition to numerous other comedians who made guest appearances, ensuring that each night had an interesting and unique mix of comedians on show.

The production, directed by Malcolm Terry, is a satirical revue that spoofs our local and international entertainment industry and personalities.
