Start to act like officials

IT must be now or never for the uncertain and questionable South African soccer official.

IT must be now or never for the uncertain and questionable South African soccer official.

The South African Football Association must never ever again be allowed to ignore the public when they are asked about corruption in the game.

Safa did it with the Pickard Commission report and got away with it.

They did it, too, with Operation Dribble, which looked into "massive corruption within the referees ranks".

We are still waiting for a glimpse of the bleak report painted by Operation Dribble.

The deafening silence from Safa can only mean that the thousands of other officials - from local association level right up to national level - are lame.

Dead bodies who do not dare float against the current.

Now axed PSL general manager Ace Ngcobo has dropped another bombshell and has given "Safa enough facts to act".

He also said a referee sold a game for R45 000. Damn.

For our own sake, we hope that one rotten potato - pardon the cliché - will not spoil the whole bag yet.

But the stench could finally overcome the game - despite 2010.

Too many people seem like ornaments in boardrooms. The Kgabalatsane XI member who represents his team or association must start agitating for a fresh start or GET OUT.

These so-called small men and women must be made to understand that the future of soccer in this country is in their hands.

This is the first real test for new Safa boss Kirsten Namatandani and company: find and root out the rot now.
