"MARY" has committed herself to "Tshepo" surrounded by family, friends and special guests as part of the 2 Strangers and a Wedding reality show.

The pair first recited their vows before Reverend Brits, and exchanged rings, before removing their masks at the old Park Station in Newtown, Johannesburg, on Friday.

They were already husband and wife before the bride and groom came face-to-face with each other for the first time. Expressions of happiness and appreciation were noted on both of their faces by the congregation.

The newlyweds were then formally introduced to each other by their real names - Rudo Dumbutshena (Mary) and David Malindi (Tshepo).

Speaking shortly after the ceremony Dumbutshena said: "I am feeling very excited and am looking forward to the future. It has been a journey and a half."

When asked what she thought of Malindi now that she had seen his face she said: "He is lovely and I think I made a good choice."

Malindi, feeling totally overwhelmed by the event, said: "I am so excited. I have been looking forward to this day - anticipating what she looks like but it is her spirit that I fell in love with.

"She has a warm spirit and just by listening to her voice I was expecting to see a beautiful person. She is a lovely person and words cannot describe how I feel."

The ceremony, resulting from Kaya FM's social experiment 2 Strangers and a Wedding, was also witnessed by curious members of the public who the proceedings from Nelson Mandela Bridge.

Among a pile of assorted wedding gifts, Dumbutshena and Malindi will be accommodated in a furnished apartment for the next 12 months. Malindi is now the proud owner of a Hummer and Dumbutshena will take receipt of a Lumina SS Sedan.

The couple will be going on a three-day honeymoon in Mpumalanga.
