MOTORISTS in Kwazulu-Natal who break the law this festive season could have their licences revoked.
They will also be "arrested, removed and fined".
The warning from the MEC for transport, community safety and liaison comes as the province starts its festive season law enforcement plan.
Since the beginning of December the province has recorded more than 1000 traffic violations, with 87 arrests of motorists for drunk driving.
More than 4000 motorists were stopped and fined at road blocks and over 600 motorists were charged with speeding.
Provincial MEC for transport, community safety and liaison, Willies Mchunu said he wanted licences for traffic offenders revoked.
He was speaking during a multi-disciplinary roadblock in Enseleni, near Richards Bay, at the launch of a festive season law enforcement plan yesterday.
Mchunu has formed a committee to look into various pieces of legislation with a view to allow him to "revoke the drivers' licenses of serial law breakers" on the roads.
Mchunu said depending on the team's findings, they might "begin to revoke the drivers' licenses of erratic motorists immediately, or begin a legislative process that will lead to this".
