THE ANC yesterday rejected media suggestions that Eskom's price increase was delayed until after the April elections this year.
The ANC had read with disbelief and surprise an article in last week's Mail and Guardian alleging that former Eskom CEO Jacob Maroga delayed the massive hikes until after the elections at the behest of the ANC, the party's spokesperson Jackson Mthembu said.
"We want to state for the record that such a behest as alleged by Mail and Guardian never took place. No one in the ANC ever requested Maroga to delay the announcement until after the elections. There was no reason for the ANC to do so," Mthembu said. - Sapa
