LIONS' fullback Jano Vermaak reckons his team will be unstoppable in the new season.

LIONS' fullback Jano Vermaak reckons his team will be unstoppable in the new season.

He was speaking after winning the backline player of the year and player of the year awards at the club's awards ceremony in Sandton at the weekend.

Last season Lions did not make the Super 14 semifinals and did not make an impression in the lucrative Absa Currie Cup.

Vermaak was over the moon on collecting two trophies and promised to help his team win silverware next season.

"Firstly, I would like to thank my wife for her immeasurable support during the good and bad times in my rugby career," Vermaak said.

"Secondly, I am grateful to my colleagues, whose unselfishness and teamwork contributed to my achievement."

"I am optimistic that my team has got what it takes win silverware next year."

France van der Merwe was voted the forward player of the year following his splendid showing throughout the season.

Captain Cobus "Babywatch" Kobus was voted player's player of the year and Franco van der Merwe won the forward player of the year award.
