FOOTSTEPS to Fortune, a dance competition now in its second year, saw nearly 400 dancers attempt to be part of the final competition in Durban on December 16.

Twelve finalists have been announced and will compete for prize money estimated at R22500.

The dance competition is a means of tracking the progress of young aspirant KZN dancers as they battle it out to make it in the solo, duo or group format.

The second edition of the contest will take place at the Suncoast Casino and Entertainment World.

The dance hopefuls range from suburban classically trained ballet and tap stars to tsotsi-style up-and-comers from the townships.

What the dancers have in common is talent, energy and personality.

Apart from the prize money the dancers will also get the opportunity to polish their skills under the guidance of the judges and dance professionals.

Style guru Kevin Ellis, who himself boasts a colourful dance history in South Africa and abroad, will choreograph the final event and design the dancers' costumes, promising a spectacular affair.
