School closes next week Friday for the more than 2,8 million pupils in the provinceand the department says it has already achieved a 99,7 percent delivery of learning and teaching support material to all non-section 21 schools. Section 21 schools are those that procure theirstationery and textbooks independently.
MEC for education Senzo Mchunu, pictured, said the delivery of support material had progressed well over the past years.
"The delivery of textbooks has moved from 40 percent in 2006, 80percent in 2007, 95 percent in 2008, 98,5 percent in 2009 and 99,7 percent for the 2010." Mchunu said.
The 0,3% outstanding delivery is as a result of the publishers not being able to deliver on some orders.
