IT WAS time for Lu Dlamini, an Afro-jazz and Afro pop artist, with her band the Blue Notes, to shine at the launch of an innovative mentoring and research foundation at Gold Reef City at the weekend.
The launch of Educhange Research Foundation marked an important milestone in mentorship as several pupils will benefit from a scholarship fund as well as from accessing funds from their schooling.
The foundation was launched by prominent educationists and businesspeople. The group, however, gave a sterling performance.
Lu and her band, which performed amid the speeches, was in an element to entertain at this charity event.
Performing mainly her own songs, but also popular songs that have been sung by many a musician, many a guest was touched by the performances.
I watched this band perform to critical acclaim for the first time at lekgotla just two weeks ago, and by fate I had to watch the band again over the weekend at this charity event.
Even though it has not yet recorded music of its own, they seem to be on their way to stardom, judging by the two performances I watched recently.
