THE bottom-of-the-table clash between Jomo Cosmos and Mpumalanga Black Aces played at the Puma Rugby Stadium on Saturday ended in a predictable 0-0 draw.
Both teams were promoted to the Absa Premiership this season and are favourites to drop back to the National First Division at the end of the season.
The situation at the bottom of the table remains the same after both clubs gained a point. Cosmos are still rooted to the bottom of the log with 10 points from 18 matches and Aces are now on 15 points. The draw suited Aces better.
But what must be worrying both the Cosmos and Aces camp is the fact they have each only scored 13 goals in 18 matches.
There was little goalmouth action in the first 45 minutes between the two sides.
Aces had a slight edge. Ezenkosi's veteran goalkeeper Avril Phali did well to stop a save from another veteran - striker Gilbert Mushangazhike in the 11th minute.
Aces Thomrick October hit his 23rd minute free kick over the Cosmos crossbar.
At the other end, seven minutes later, Cosmos defender Thapelo Tshilo did the same when he had a chance to break the deadlock with a free kick.
The second half was similar to the first with little action.
Aces goalkeeper Oscar Ramogadi made a good save from a 30-metre rocket from Gladwin Shitolo in the 49th minute.
Aces Lehumo Itshegeteng was wide of the Cosmos post in the 56th minute while teammate Shere Lekgothoane headed a Clifford Mulenga cross wide five minutes later.
Cosmos Mali midfielder Diarra Gasoussou was also wide with his effort in the 71st minute and, with six minutes remaining, Aces' Mpho Maleka headed his shot wide of the Cosmos goal. - Sapa
