The crash happened on the R101 old Warmbaths (Bela Bela) Road near Hammanskraal, north of Pretoria.

This brings the number of deaths to 11 across the country since Friday.

According to the police the Bela Bela crash occurred when the minibus taxi driver overtook a vehicle and collided head-on with an oncoming Isuzu bakkie.

Two passengers in the bakkie died and the 15 people travelling in a Toyota Quantum were injured.

They were taken to various hospitals in Pretoria.

Tshwane community safety spokesperson Console Tleane said the 12-seater minibus taxi was overloaded since it was carrying 15 passengers.

He said police were investigating a case of culpable homicide against the driver.

l A 45-year-old pedestrian died yesterday in Germiston, Ekurhuleni, when he was struck down by a taxi.

Ekurhuleni metro police spokesperson Kobeli Mokheseng said the taxi driver had been driving recklessly. About 16 taxi occupants were hurt and taken to hospitals.

l Twenty people were injured when their taxi rolled on the N1 near Midrand yesterday.

Netcare 911 spokesperson Chris Botha said the taxi rolled five or six times.

l Two women were airlifted to hospital after their vehicle collided with a taxi in Brakpan yesterday.

Botha said both were in a critical condition and were airlifted from the scene.

l On Saturday three people, including a taxi driver, were injured when a sedan and a taxi collided on the Durban North Coast, KwaZulu-Natal, said ER24 spokesperson Derrick Banks.

l An eight-year-old boy was airlifted to Charlotte Maxeke Hospital, Joburg, on Saturday after a crash involving a car and a bakkie in Diepsloot.

"A sedan was hit by a bakkie," Botha said.

The other person was taken to a nearby hospital.

l An SANDF soldier was injured on Saturday when his car overturned in Umlazi, KwaZulu-Natal.

Netcare 911 spokesperson Jeff Wicks said paramedics resuscitated him and he was then hospitalised.

l A man and a woman were injured on Saturday when their car was hit by a train as they tried to cross a railway track near Lynedoch in Stellenbosch, Cape Town.

ER24 spokesperson Tristan Wadeley said rescuers freed the man from the wreck.

l Six people were hurt on Friday when their bakkie overturned near Verulam in KwaZulu-Natal.

Netcare 911's Wicks said the injured passengers were taken to nearby hospitals.

l On Friday eight soldiers were killed in a crash in Free State. The group was travelling in a minibus between Montrose and Van Reenen on the N3.
