Modise is gunning for Bedeman

JASON "Badman" Bedeman's bubble will burst come Monday night, Joseph Modise warned yesterday.

JASON "Badman" Bedeman's bubble will burst come Monday night, Joseph Modise warned yesterday.

This warrior from Zeerust, who fights out of Gauteng under veteran trainer Norman Hlabane, will take on the recently crowned IBO Africa lightweight champion over eight rounds at Emperors Palace.

"I intend to knock him out in the fourth round. I will spoil their excitement."

Modise was referring to the 20-year-old's capture of the WBA B-grade belt against Grant Fourie two months back. Modise and Bedeman will meet for the second time. Their first fight, a bloody six-rounder in July, was declared a draw.

But the heavyweight four-rounder between Stephen Castle and Tyrone Churchill could steal the thunder from the main fight.

The bouts form part of promoter Jeff Ellis's "Christmas Cracker" bill, a box-and-dine to raise funds for Ellis's younger brother Ron and Kerry Roodt. Ron, a former Natal heavyweight champion, is suffering from a rare disease while Roodt was disabled when he was shot in a robbery a few years ago.
