Aces and Cosmos in crunch encounter

IT WILL be a case of who wants to escape relegation the most when Mpumalanga Black Aces host Jomo Cosmos in a bottom-of-the-log Absa Premiership clash at Puma Rugby Stadium in Witbank tomorrow.

IT WILL be a case of who wants to escape relegation the most when Mpumalanga Black Aces host Jomo Cosmos in a bottom-of-the-log Absa Premiership clash at Puma Rugby Stadium in Witbank tomorrow.

Kickoff is at 3.30pm.

AmaZayoni will be high on confidence after holding Moroka Swallows to a 1-all draw on Wednesday.

After parting ways with former coach Sammy Troughton earlier this month, Aces renewed ties with Aiki Ayiomamitis and have played two matches since the Cypriot was appointed, in which they collected one point.

Skipper Godfrey Nobula said everything was on track for the crunch game.

"We are happy with our display against Swallows on Wednesday although we would have preferred a win. But a draw away from home is always good and we must now try to build on that momentum and get the three points against Cosmos," Nobula said.

He also said Aces would show no mercy to troubled Cosmos when they take to the field tomorrow.

"Clubs who find themselves in Cosmos's position are dangerous so we must be very careful. But we are desperate for points and we'll be going all out tomorrow."

Captain Avril Phali called on his teammates to find the strength to move the club out of the drop zone.

"Our only win this season was against Aces and they might just be the club to help turn our fortunes around," the agile Cosmos shot-stopper said yesterday.

"Despite recent results, spirits are high. We have just been unlucky in front of goal and maybe we must go back to our robust style of play."
