SASOL launched the second year of their sponsorship of women's football in Johannesburg yesterday, continuing a partnership that paid huge dividends in its first season.
The sponsors contribute towards the welfare of the local league in all nine provinces and the national teams.
With the second season kicking off this weekend, the message was clear: it is all about ensuring qualification for the next women's World Cup, which takes place in Germany in 2011.
Banyana will have to secure one of the two places reserved for African countries at the World Cup.
They are expected to do this when they host the African Women's Nations Cup next year.
At the launch, Safa's Nokuthula Mahlangu and Sasol's Andriesa Singleton reflected on the successes achieved in the first year of this partnership, with the highlight being Banyana's performance internationally and their rise to No 2 on the continent behind Equatorial Guinea.
