First derby at Moses Mabhida sold out

FOR the first time in the history of football in KwaZulu-Natal, since the formation of the PSL in 1996, tickets are sold out for Sunday's Absa Premiership derby between AmaZulu and Maritzburg United.

FOR the first time in the history of football in KwaZulu-Natal, since the formation of the PSL in 1996, tickets are sold out for Sunday's Absa Premiership derby between AmaZulu and Maritzburg United.

The match, to be played at Durban's newly built Moses Mabhida Stadium, has generated so much excitement that tickets - a total of 22000 - were sold out by Tuesday.

Usuthu spokesperson Philani "Zane" Mabaso is thrilled that local fans are showing such enthusiasm. "We're very excited by the fact that the tickets have already been sold out.

"It's good to see that it is not only the Soweto derby that can generate so much interest. This is a sign that people do not want to miss out on being part of history," he said.

A comprehensive security plan was agreed on two weeks ago, which is why they cannot add more tickets, though the demand was still huge.

United's brand manager Younus Kadodia said the Team of Choice had arranged five luxury buses for the derby.

"In order to get a seat on these buses, supporters will have to produce a match ticket," he said.
