ACE Ncobo has failed a lie-detector test.

In an exercise that had been aimed at exonerating him from corruption allegations levelled against him by former Absa Premiership referee Jonas Nhlapo, the league's general manager underwent a polygraph test yesterday at the The Star newspaper's offices.

Out of four questions asked, Ncobo answered three correctly, but failed the crucial one aimed at clarifying whether he had accused Nhlapo of taking bribes from Orlando Pirates, as Nhlapo alleged in Shoot magazine.

The test was conducted by Johann Lamprecht.

Ncobo had insisted this question be included after it had initially been left out.

He later blamed the failure on his emotional state when asked whether he had stormed into a meeting and accused Nhlapo of taking bribes from Pirates.

"In his quest to tarnish my image, Nhlapo selected the name of the team carefully," Ncobo said, alluding to his close relationship with Pirates supremo Irvin Khoza.

But Ncobo said he would never have targeted any team in the league as he had dedicated his life and career to fighting corruption in local football.

"These results leave us with more questions than answers," he admitted.

"But I hold my head up high with the knowledge that these allegations are not true," he added.

Ncobo said the ball was in the PSL's court now that he had failed the test.
