CANBERRA - An elderly man who went out to buy a morning newspaper ended up driving more than 600km after getting lost and taking the wrong turn onto a major Australian highway, police said yesterday.

The man, 81-year-old Eric Steward, eventually stopped and asked a policeman for directions after driving for nine hours, from the New South Wales town of Yass to Geelong in southern Victoria. - Reuters
