Seema back in pirates armoury

ORLANDO Pirates and Lesotho central defender Lehlohonolo Seema could make his 2009-10 Absa Premiership soccer season debut against Ajax Cape Town at Orlando Stadium in Soweto on Saturday night.

ORLANDO Pirates and Lesotho central defender Lehlohonolo Seema could make his 2009-10 Absa Premiership soccer season debut against Ajax Cape Town at Orlando Stadium in Soweto on Saturday night.

The injury-prone Seema passed a fitness test with flying colours after featuring for Bucs in a friendly that they won 6-0 against Safa Vodacom League side Inter South Africa from Tshwane last Thursday.

Pirates, who hope to start the second round with a win over Ajax, used the Inter match to ensure their players remained in great shape during the international break.

Bucs publicist Mickey Modisane said they were thrilled to have Seema back.

"It was great to see Lehlohonolo playing well against Inter after such a long time. He is one of our most experienced players and it is a major boost to have him back," Modisane said. Modisane also revealed that Benson Mhlongo has already started his rehabilitation programme after sustaining a career-threatening injury in a game against AmaZulu three weeks ago.

"I know that many people are worried but I'm fine and I will able to play soccer again. I will be back in action soon. I sustained more or less the same injury when I was still at Bidvest Wits but I managed to bounce back," Mhlongo said.

Modisane also announced that Bennett Chenene and Joseph Makhanya were back at training after sustaining foot and hamstring injuries last week. But Dennis Masina and Thembinkosi Fanteni are doubtful for the Ajax game.

"We want to continue where we left off in our last match (they beat Bloemfontein Celtic 3-1) by beating Ajax on Saturday," Modisane said.
