SOME members of Parliament, who earn more than R700000 a year, are taking home an extra R40000 a month in petrol claims, according to ID leader Patricia de Lille.
De Lille yesterday called on Parliament to "clamp down" on the group of MPs, whom she did not name.
She said some MPs chose to drive from Johannesburg to Cape Town and back instead of flying. They do this so that they can get paid R3,69 a kilometre in petrol reimbursements - a total of R10305 in petrol money.
The MPs would also be entitled to claim for two overnight stays en route - earning an extra R2300.
