A HIJACKER was arrested yesterday after the car he and his accomplices had grabbed overturned in La Lucia, Durban, paramedics said.

A HIJACKER was arrested yesterday after the car he and his accomplices had grabbed overturned in La Lucia, Durban, paramedics said.

"The thief was seated in the back seat of the Toyota Corolla that was stolen from a business in Verulam," said Netcare 911 spokesperson Jeff Wicks.

"Police were hot on the heels of the four hijackers, who had fled towards Durban soon after stealing the car. The chase proved too much for the driver of the stolen car. He lost control of the vehicle and it overturned."

Wicks said three men managed to climb out of the car, but the fourth was not so lucky since his foot became wedged beneath the open door and he was was trapped.

Police officers called paramedics to the scene, who freed him.

"He was assessed by medics and found to be uninjured and in good health. He was promptly arrested and bundled into the back of a police patrol vehicle," Wicks said. - Sapa
