BAGHDAD - The spokesperson for Iraq's justice ministry says the trial of a British security contractor accused of shooting two colleagues to death has been postponed.
Abdul-Sattar Bayrkdar says the trial of Briton Danny Fitzsimons, which was expected to open yesterday, has been delayed because the venue for the trial was moved to another building.
Bayrkdar could not say yesterday when the trial would begin.
Fitzsimons is accused of shooting two colleagues, a Briton and an Australian, during a fight in Baghdad's protected Green Zone this summer.
All three men were working for the British security firm ArmorGroup Iraq.
Fitzsimons would be the first Westerner to face an Iraqi trial since a United States-Iraqi security pact lifted immunity for foreign contractors. His family wants him to be tried in Britain. - Sapa-AP
