FORMER Banyana Banyana star Disebo Mokhopa says her team, Super Stars Ladies, aims to reach the provincial semifinals of the Soccerex five-a-side competition in Sandton from November 28 to 29.

The Zonkezizwe-based side will represent Ekurhuleni metro at Mandela Square after edging out Katlehong United 5-2 in an exciting women's district final at Actonville Stadium in Benoni on Saturday.

Said Mokhopa: "We are quite excited to pull through to the provincial semifinals, especially in our debut.

"It is an honour to represent the community of Ekurhuleni in a competitive competition and we promise to do our utmost best against our counterparts.

"Our aim is to reach the semifinals but winning the tournament would be a bonus," said Mokhopa, the former Moroka Swallows Ladies' team player.

Stars right-back Lerato Tsotetsi turned in a magnificent performance and capped it with a hat trick. Central midfielder Mbali Galele and Ayanda Mbhele added a goal apiece to give Stars a 5-0 lead.

United responded late through Zodwa Mahlangu and Sibongile Shange.

In the boys Under-17 category, Crystal Park beat Likole Killers 5-2 in the final and they will also represent Ekurhuleni in Sandton.

Eight local football associations from Safa Ekurhuleni took part in this poorly attended one-day event.

The winners will attend coaching clinics hosted by SA's David Beckham Academy.
