THE KwaZulu-Natal government has launched an ambitious exercise to achieve "zero audit qualifications" in government departments and municipalities come 2014.
"Operation Clean Audit 2014" effectively makes municipalities and government departments responsible for implementing clear plans on how they will eliminate the misuse of taxpayers' money.
In a joint exercise, all 14 provincial departments and the 61 municipalities signed a pledge to commit to a set of targets that have to be achieved - starting next year through to 2014.
The programme was unveiled by MEC for finance Ina Cronjé. - Mhlaba Memela
