Klate and his coach, Gavin Hunt, were crowned PSL player and coach of month for October yesterday, and having given due regard to the rest of his United teammates, the proud new father went on to gush about Zachary, who turns six weeks old today.
"I have not stopped scoring since he was born," laughed Klate, whose eight goals make him the team's leading goalscorer.
The player's vast improvement has not only been recognised by the league, but his Bafana Bafana call-up has been a huge cherry on the top in a fairy tale season.
"I'm pleased with the call-up since I get to gain more experience in the international arena.
"Our team has done really well, and so it has been easy for me as an individual to shine," Klate said.
This is not his first sojourn in the international front and Klate is hoping to have a real shot at regular call-ups in Carlos Alberto Parreira's side.
In his moment of glory, Hunt, who also won the award last month, spoke about the adversity they have had to deal with due to the exodus of key players.
In the past few years, Teko Modise, Siboniso Gaxa, Katlego Mphela, Katlego Mashego, Sibusiso Mahlangu, Phil Evans, Richard Rantjie, Calvin Marlin, Edward Williams, Kermit Erasmus and Elias Pelembe have all left.
"No team can survive and be competitive if they were as depleted as we have been," said Hunt.
l Klate's second goal in United's 4-2 win over AmaZulu on Saturday was United's 600th since their formation in 1994.
