DEPUTY Public Works Minister Hendrietta Bogopane-Zulu has defied the "bling" car cabinet brigade and bought the cheapest vehicle so far.
Bogopane-Zulu bought a 2008 Chrysler SRT 8300, with no extras, for R460000.
Some of her cabinet colleagues have splashed out millions on top-of-the-range cars, with accessories such as back seat DVD players, and wood and leather steering wheels.
Only Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan won praise after he spent a lot less - buying an Audi for R590500 and a Lexus for R557673.
But a parliamentary reply yesterday revealed that she is even more frugal than Gordhan or any other cabinet member. - Anna Majavu
