IN another "shoot to kill" incident, a man has died in Mpumalanga after he was allegedly shot by a detective.
The detective allegedly shot the 23-year-old man after receiving false information from a drunk colleague that he (the victim) had a gun.
The incident happened outside Rouge Tavern in KwaMhlanga on Sunday when a cop who was allegedly drinking with friends called his on-duty colleagues and gave them a description of a man he claimed had a gun.
Michael "Ngeria" Sikhosana of Ezakheni Section in KwaMhlanga was shot twice in the upper body a few metres from the tavern. He died in hospital on Monday.
By yesterday the Independent Complaints Directorate was still not aware of the incident.
Superintendent Abie Khoabane said: "Police received a tip-off about people with an illegal firearm at Rouge Tavern. They rushed there and four suspects opened fire and police returned their fire." - Sowetan reporter
