Good move

WE are rather impressed with how Home Affairs Minister Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma has seized on the challenges in her portfolio with much gusto and set her sights on improvingservice delivery.

WE are rather impressed with how Home Affairs Minister Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma has seized on the challenges in her portfolio with much gusto and set her sights on improvingservice delivery.

Her strategy to increase collaboration between various government departments by creating joint forums should speed up the resolution of problems and cut through bureaucratic red tape.

Such structures, already established in parts of KwaZulu-Natal and Eastern Cape, consist of representatives from various government departments, local communities, chiefs, the clergy and councillors.

Service delivery remains a source of consternation in large parts of the country, and we therefore welcome the establishment of joint consultative forums as they will breathe fresh air into the governance of poorly run municipalities.
