ANC leader in car crash

ANC KwaZulu-Natal MPL Bheki Ntuli is in hospital after he was involved in a car accident yesterday afternoon.

Ntuli, who also serves as the chairperson of the transport, community safety and liaison portfolio committee, was injured when his car overturned.

ER24 spokesperson Derrick Banks said when a team of paramedics arrived at the scene of the crash on the N3, they found Ntuli's vehicle lying on its roof.

"The paramedics assessed the patient and treated him for possible head and neck injuries."

Ntuli was stabilised and transported to Pietermaritzburg Medi-Clinic in a "serious but stable condition," Banks said.

He said they believed that the driver was travelling on the N3 north bound when he lost control of his vehicle.

"It is unclear why the driver lost control of the car," he said.

Party media spokesperson Nomfundo Mcetywa confirmed the accident, saying Ntuli was in a stable condition.

"He is being kept over night for observation as he suffered some body injuries," said Mcetywa.
