TWO men were arrested for assault and public violence yesterday after they allegedly attacked metro cops who were demolishing illegal shacks in Ennerdale, south of Johannesburg, metro police said.
Senior Superintendent Wayne Minnaar said metro police were destroying 300 shacks that were built at the weekend in the area.
"The pair attacked the police in an attempt to stop them from destroying the shacks," he said.
The men, aged 32 and 46, were expected to appear in the Vereeniging magistrate's court today, Minnaar said. - Sapa
