TSHWANE mayor Gwen Ramokgopa will remain in office after ANC structures confirmed their confidence in her leadership during a meeting that lasted the whole day yesterday.
The Gauteng ANC Youth League also backed Ramokgopa and said "she's going nowhere".
Provincial secretary Thabo Kupa said Ramokgopa "is a capable leader".
Ramokgopa is expected to attend the briefing today in Pretoria where ANC Tshwane regional chairperson Kgosientso Ramokgopa will announce resolutions of the regional executive committee, on the governance of the City of Tshwane Municipality, financial matters and changes to the mayoral committee.
Sources said the committee would be reshuffled in order to improve the city's governance.
Last week Ramokgopa's spokesperson, Tiny Mokwena, confirmed the looming overhaul to Sowetan and said names of leaders who would be taking up new posts or leaving would be confirmed during a meeting last Tuesday.
By Wednesday there was no word from the council about the overhaul. Approached for clarity, Ramokgopa said: "There is no (council) overhaul. This is just speculation. If the decision to reshuffle the council is ever taken, it will be communicated to the public."
