THE Sibikwa Theatre in Benoni is closing its 2009 calendar on a high note with the interesting production Malindi: The Sex Strike.

Directed by seasoned playwright Phyllis Klotz, the show opens on November 15 and runs until December 11.

This light-hearted comedy about sex is set in Africa. The production is enhanced by music and dance accompanied by a 12-piece band.

The play features wellknown actors such as Andries Mbali, who is known for his roles in U-Carmen E-Khayelitsha and Son of Man.

Klotz says the theme of the play is make love not war.

"Women are tired of men going to war and decide they will withhold their sexual favours until men stop fighting.

"This is followed by a hilarious series of events that eventually lead to a reconciliation between men and women."

Klotz says Malindi: The Sex Strike is the perfect production for the festive season and she is sure theatre-goers will enjoy it

Klotz is artistic director of the Sibikwa Community Theatre Project and one of the few women who have contributed to the development of community theatre.

Tickets for this exciting show cost R60 a person. For reservations and bookings contact Sibikwa.
