AFTER a very successful run at Johannesburg's Gold Reef City early this year, Motown Xmas Magic is back.

The popular musical returns to Gold Reef City from December 11 to January 3.

Featuring local performers such as Sury Boltman, Tsepo Desando, Huey Louw, Basil Appollis, Tracey-Lee Oliver, Lucia Mthiyane and Hayley Christian, the musical is an absolute delight.

In the new Motown Xmas Magic new faces such as Candida Mosoma and Mortimer Williams have been introduced

Carlo Spettu, director of the show, says: "We brought back the same Motown Magic show that Jozi audiences adored before, but we added a special twist of festive cheer to the mix.

"After the huge success of Motown Magic we are thrilled to bring back the production to the audiences who loved it and hopefully to a new audience too."

Produced by Hazel Feldman, the spectacular musical extravaganza tells the story of Motown's mega hits and its effect on many artists and millions of fans throughout the world, 50 years later.

The show takes you back to the 60s with the popular songs of Diana Ross, The Supremes, Smokey Robinson, The Miracles, Stevie Wonder, The Temptations, The Four Tops, Marvin Gaye, The Jackson 5, Lionel Richie and The Commodores, The Marvelettes, Martha Reeves and The Vandellas and Gladys Knight and The Pips among many more.

Motown was the first recording company owned by African Americans to primarily feature African-American artists.

The company, which was established in 1959, has produced many successful musicians.

Motown also played a very important role in the racial integration of popular music since it was formed.
