MAMELODI Sundowns' supporters will be glad to learn that stylish midfielder Surprise Moriri is close to making a return.
He is making a steady progress after a lengthy period on the sidelines nursing an injury to his knee that needed to be operated on.
As a result the 2005/2006 Footballer of the Year lost his place in the Bafana Bafana team that campaigned to a semifinal 1-0 defeat to eventual winner Brazil in the Confederations Cup.
Club communications manager Alex "Gold Finger" Shakoane, yesterday, said the inspirational Moriri, who is famed for creating and burying goals, is close to returning to the pitch.
"Though he is yet to do physical training, he did some ball work with his team mates last week," Shakoane said.
"I think he'll be ready after two or three weeks. We regard all our players as special but our fans see Surprise as one of a kind.
"They have been saying they are desperate to have him back."
Moriri made his Bafana debut against Lesotho in 2003.
