Trainer says Mtya is biased

BOXING SA acting chief Loyiso Mtya is under fire for alleged bias.

BOXING SA acting chief Loyiso Mtya is under fire for alleged bias.

Trainer Peet Bothma says Mtya did not give him a chance to finish his motivation when he told him "forget it".

Bothma had filed an application for his fighter Johnny Muller to fight Bully Maravha for the IBO heavyweight title.

"I applied for my fighter with promoter Pat Molefe to fight Bully Maravha and the IBO had already approved them for the youth title," he said.

"Loyiso did not wait for me to finish the sentence. He said such a fight cannot happen and suggested that Johnny fights somebody else or Muravha for the Transvaal title."

"How can Mtya be allowed to administer boxing the way he does, because he does things that suit him and not boxing - period."

Boxing SA chairman Peter Ngatane suggested that Bothma should put his complaint on paper.

"That will be a fair way to deal with it, unlike a verbal complaint, because Loyiso will also give his side of the story," he said.
