Jansen was far too lenient

I AM a young, black South African man and I totally agree with Tshidi Pholoana's letter "(Jonathan) Jansen wrong to drop charges", Sowetan, October 16.

It baffles me that these white students from the University of the Free State (UFS) got away with such an atrocity. But then, isn't this what we have come to expect as black South Africans?

We look back at Wouter Basson who literally got away with murder.

And then we have white people who apply for "political" asylum in Western countries because they feel they are not protected by the government.

How dare they go around the world shooting off their big mouths. The black people of this country received no apology for the way they were treated by the apartheid regime.

It's all well and good for Archbishop Desmond Tutu to preach reconciliation, but he was not the one who got to taste the urine.

He is a man of the cloth and it's time for him to stick to the church and stop his political meddling.

Did Tutu really take time out to think how the victims felt? Perhaps the victims should be asked if the four idiots should be forgiven.

How many times must black people forgive white people for their blatant disregard of human rights?

Black people go out of their way to make whites feel comfortable and we justify their horrendous behaviour.

If you are a racist who wants to get away with disrespecting other human beings UFS is the place for you.

Shame on you, Jansen and Tutu, for failing to see that this is not about forgiveness. It is about those young men taking responsibility for their actions. What they did was planned and thought out.
