GOSPEL singer Mpho Thosago's latest album promises to bless all those who hear it.
Hailing from Soshanguve, Pretoria, Thosago has just released his second album, Bapa Lenna, and with his mature voice and unique sound, Thosago is set to redefine local traditional music.
Bapa Lenna is a collection of inspiring gospel songs and the whole album boasts a strong message guaranteed to touch your heart.
The powerful opening track, Nkamohele Ntate, makes you want to throw your hands in the air and give thanks to the Lord.
Thosago made his debut album last year, titled Baheso, whichsold more than 20000 copies.
"Most of the songs I write reflect my personal experiences and I also look at what happens to other people," he says.
"My inspiration to write songs is driven by my mood.
"Most of the songs I write are when I'm either very sad or very happy."
Thosago enjoys working with talented TV actor and producer Mac Mathunjwa, who has acted in many successful shows, including Khululeka and Home Affairs.
"A lot of people do not know that Mac has a lot of experience when it comes to music. I have learnt a lot from him."
Thosago started singing in 1989 while he was still at school and then joined the Holly Comforters.
The group released their debut album in 1995. In 2000 he left the group and opted to join the South African National Defence Force.
He resigned from the force in 2005 and has since then been successfully marching to a new tune - establishing a fine music career.
