THE Sharks will play Free State in the final of the Absa Under-21 Championship at Loftus Versveld on October 31.

In Cape Town, the Durban Under-21 side booked their place in the final after their stunning 36-22 victory over Western Province at Newlands on Saturday. Patrick Lambie was the stand-out performer for the Sharks after kicking five penalties and converting three tries. The tries were scored by Jerome Pretorius, Luvuyiso Lusaseni and Rosko Specman.

WP lock Martin Muller was the sole try-scorer for the hosts. His try was converted by fullback Jurgen Visser. Province flyhalf Coenie van Wyk kicked three penalties.

nFree State also confirmed their place in the Under-21 championship following their 12-10 victory over the Blue Bulls at Loftus on Saturday. George Whitehead scored all the points for the Bloemfontein Under-21s as he kicked four penalties to record a personal points tally of 12 in this playoff match.

Bulls' Aubrey McDonald ran in the only try of the match, converted by Stefan Watermeyer.

nThe Lions and Free State booked their places in the Absa Under-19 Championships final following their victories over Blue Bulls and the Western Province respectively.

Free State edged out WP at Newlands 14-13 while at Loftus the hosts lost 32-30 to their Gauteng neighbours. - Sapa
