This after the Hamman-skraal regional court again postponed the trial of Solly Madileng - to December 7 - allegedly without giving reasons.

Since she was shot on October 4 2007, Madileng's case has been kept on ice and now the angry wife believes something underhand might be going on.

"My husband should have been in jail by now," she said. "Two years is too long to pass without my case being heard."

Maki was speaking after the case against her 49-year-old husband, of Marapyane outside KwaMhlanga, was again delayed last week.

"I really want to put the incidents of that fateful day behind me but I can't because the state is dragging out the matter.

"What really pains me is that the authorities do not treat this matter with the sensitivity it deserves," she said.

Maki said the judge "just told us to come back on December 7 because he could not proceed on the day".

"This is the same judge who has been postponing the matter for the past two years," she said.

Madileng also faces charges of kidnapping and assaulting a former employee, Ephraim Makitla.

Madileng was on bail for Makitla's case when he allegedly shot his wife of 10 years, before throwing her out of a moving vehicle in Seabe village. She was found by passersby the next day.

He is out on R4000 bail for the attempted murder of his wife.
