GABORONE - Botswana's ruling party yesterday savoured a decisive poll victory that handed President Ian Khama another five years in power despite economic woes in the world's biggest diamond producer.
Khama retained the presidency as his Botswana Democratic Party took 45 of the 57 seats, while the main opposition lost nearly half its seats to a splinter party.
"We have run this party very well. Batswana trust us, especially during difficult times," BDP spokesperson Comma Serema said. - Sapa-AFP
