THE KwaZulu-Natal department of social development, in partnership with the UN Population Fund, has awarded prizes to three young artists and cartoonists for creating posters promoting good family values.
The initiative was aimed at allowing pupils from schools around the province to showcase their art skills.
Three winners each won R10000 for their schools and R5000 for themselves.
Ruth Singh, who won the 13 to 15 years category, said: "My artwork illustrates a steady career for the future."
Waylon Hicker, who topped the 17 to 19 years category, said his work was aimed at encouraging the youth to plan for their future.
Thabani Dlamini, who scooped the last category, said: "My drawing illustrates a couple that has fallen in love and agree that education is the only way forward."
Congratulating the winners, MEC Meshack Hadebe said: "You must aim high as the future is in your hands."
