South African Chefs Association Skills Kitchen hosts the 4th Goldcrest Young Chef of the Year Competition today at the University of Johannesburg School of Tourism and Hospitality in Auckland Park.

A record 122 young chefs from throughout the country have entered. Competitors have to design an original 3-course menu using Goldcrest's products.

By the end of the day 12 finalists will have been cooking for three hours to win an all-expenses work experience trip to the Dorchester Hotel in London.

The judges are Bill Gallagher, who was recently awarded the Honorary Life-President of the World Association of Cooks Societies, Martin Kobald, who has the distinction of having been personal chef to actor Will Smith, last year's winner Abubaker Bagaria and Saca vice president Jeff Schueremans.
