A UGANDAN national who posed as a medical doctor and then allegedly raped an 18-year-old pregnant girl has been remanded.
Mohammed Sulliman Kottji appeared in the Polokwane magistrate's court in Limpopo yesterday. Denying bail, the court said he was arrested while on the verge of leaving the country.
Kottji, 24, appeared along with his "partner-in-crime" Klaas Mamabolo, 27, who is accused of having stood guard at the surgery entrance to stop people coming in.
The girl had gone to Kottji to abort a pregnancy from a previous rape three months ago. Kottji allegedly raped her on the pretext that he was helping her abort.
Mamabolo was granted bail of R1000. T he two are expected to appear in court again on October 22. - Alex Matlala
