FREETOWN - A Sierra Leone war crimes court will rule on October 26 on the appeal of three former United Revolutionary Front rebel leaders convicted of overseeing a trail of rapes and killings.
The appeals judgment against Issa Hassan Sesay, Morris Kallon and Augustine Gbao will be the last judgment the Special Court for Sierra Leone will hand down on October 26.
Sesay, the former interim leader of RUF, was sentenced in April to a 52-year prison term, the highest sentence ever handed down by the court, which cannot impose a life sentence.
Kallon, who judges described as a key player within the RUF, was sentenced to 40 years and the rebels' ideology trainer Gbao got a 25-year prison term. - Sapa-AP
