Mthethwa displays his music talent

BABA Mthethwa is a man of many talents. Apart from being a funny sports presenter he can sing too - and he has a CD to prove it.

BABA Mthethwa is a man of many talents. Apart from being a funny sports presenter he can sing too - and he has a CD to prove it.

Known by television viewers for his favourite saying Ho thatha banna, Mthethwa has collaborated with one of the most successful house music DJs whose music appeals mostly to young people.

He has done a collaboration with DJ Cleo - Cleopas Monyapao - on his latest album Eskhaleni 6.

Mthethwa, who is in his 40s, does not see anything unusual in being involved in this genre. "Age is something that I am not going to reveal to the public."

The duo did a track called Mzimba Shaker in which he is a praise singer.

Mthethwa said it was an honour for him to work with DJ Cleo. "I am humbled and honoured. When the best ask to work with you it means they see something unique in you."

He said his involvement in the music industry was long overdue. " Previously people have tried to steal my voice without my approval. I knew it would happen because people love my voice."

Mthethwa, who joined SABC in 2003 as a sports commentator, said he would love to have his own album in the future.

He would love to collaborate with Keke Phoofolo.

Born in Thabong, Welkom, Mthethwa sang for choral groups such as Thabong Melodies and Voices of Joy.

He also competed as a soloist in the annual National Choir Festival.
