THE party season is here. It is time to freshen up that make-up bag with some of the season's top trends.
Make-up expert Von Masilela says this season's trends are a casually classic meet downtown edge.
"The new trends for summer are bold yet subtle, light and airy and perfect for party girls who want to make a first impression no one will forget and every girl will envy."
But he warns: keep the eye make-up light.
Here's the lowdown from Masilela on how to make heads turn.
Red lips are classic and more popular than ever this summer.
But if you dare to be different, let a fiery orange pout do the talking. Celebrities such as Rihanna have been rocking this trend. And Masilela says the bold colour is "a great alternative" to red.
"If you are wary of exploring your wild side, however, you can tame the colour by mixing burnt orange with red and brown for darker skin tones and a cool yellow or blue-based version for lighter complexions. Ease into your signature citrus gently.
"Initially, you might dab colour on so that the orange lip is sheer, not heavy," Masilela explains.
Shelve the dark, black smoke colours for now and embrace deep sapphire.
Masilela says navy is a fresh feeling on the smoky eye.
"The eyes should be given structure and boldness at the bottom. Lightly line your upper lash line on your lid and below, then dot the colour on the centre of the lid and blend outward. For a night out, try smoky eye colour in sapphires," he says.
Egyptian eyes are very popular again. Masilela says when applying eyeliner, add a thicker line at the top of your lid as well as at the bottom.
"While doing the top lid, drag the eyeliner pencil further out at the sides to create a flattering wing. This makes eyes look more dramatic. The eye colour will show more, and it creates an alluring mysterious look. This look "While doing the top lid, drag the eyeliner pencil further out at the sides to create a flattering wing. False lashes are very big too. They are applied individually and last a couple of weeks.

If you do not like the glued route, layer on the mascara. Apply several coats.
For nails, bold tomato red is in.
"Another thing that is different this season is that fingertips and toes are the same colour.
In past seasons, it was always about trying to mix different shade combinations," Masilela says.
Rosy cheeks are still in.
"To get that rosy look, contrast is very important. Your eyes should be strongly outlined. The look is quite stunning and great for a summer night out or a casual walk in the mall."
Tweeze those brows and apply a liner.
